This rust-free example of a 1972 Ford F100 “Explorer” wears its long bed and three-on-the-tree with pride. Powered by the original 302 windsor small-block V8, the truck runs and drives with ease….as long has you can handle manual steering.

The rare “Explorer” package was selected by the buyer, along with equipment group B, we know this because in the glovebox we found the “Explorer” brochure where the original buyer circled what he wanted and even took down the salesman’s info. Sold new at Moody Ford in Warner Robins, GA the truck comes with a set of factory service manuals still in the original Ford box, addressed to the trucks’ original buyer. One imagines an aircraft mechanic driving this truck to work on the new C-130E’s in the heyday of the United States Air Force’s depot at Robins AFB.

Finished in Durango Tan, and equipped with factory air-conditioning, the truck looks like the Georgia weekend warrior it was certainly bought to be.

We’re currently addressing a few mechanical items as well as performing some preservation and minor repair work on various cosmetic items on the truck and will present photos very soon….if we can stop driving it!
